Aloofness: The Indian Way!

June 16, 2008

There is a certain aloofness in the entire ‘ravaiyya’ [a more down to earth hindi word for attitude] of we, Indians.
Aloofness of the obvious and the necessary. Aloofness from the visible and clear.

Take for example, the case of Landmark. Yeah that same book store which was giving you a helluva’ lot of time till the other day. I heard from one of my friend the incident when a Western lady in search of some good quality Hindi movies, [she was open for suggestions!] didn’t get any from three ‘chatty’ Landmark ‘assisting executives’ (I think thats what they call themselves] standing nearby. And all the time she was expecting some guidance. [Thankfully, my friend gave her a better pick]

See? Aloofness to the obvious and necessary.

Just like, RBI was aloof to the tens of VC firms waiting in the wings for investing. And now that inflows have reduced, RBI has suddenly turned its head towards them. Apparently, the advising firms report that the erstwhile given declaration by these VC firms to stay away from properties was just not enough. Today it has to insert a clause in its charter!

Well… we all know VC money is far better [in terms of investment window] than P-note money and the FII money, [looking to cashout in the next bull run] but still the lack of the obvious just makes me shake my head!
Aloofness to the visible and clear!

I am still thinking, how to actually classify a personal experience through, this discourse of aloofness. It a latest snafu which Barclay Bank has directed towards me. After applying for a Platinum Credit Card(no less) way back in April, I came to know that my application has been rejected, two months later. That too, once I called them up and charged them.
Aloofness!

Toldya we love to be part of that aloof, lost in our own dreams group. 🙂
